Berlin

Berlin Wall - technically there were two: the outer we can see at the front, while the building seen in the background made up the inner.I enjoyed an excellent couple of days in Berlin. Not really as I imagined it and viewing the remains of the wall turned out to be different to what I expected even though I'd seen it on TV.

The first day I went on a guided walking tour of the city which was most informative. The Brandenburg Tor or Gate with the Angel of Victory on topAnyone planning to visit Berlin who has not yet been is advised to use "Insider Tours". It was probably about 5.5 hrs in the end (inc a break). Sites visited included Checkpoint Charlie, Remains of the Wall, Brandenburg Gate, Site of Hitlers bunker, site of SS & Gestapo HQs, Unter Den Linden and many many other sites.

On the second day I visited a couple of museums: the Gestapo HQ/Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie Museums to be precise.

Sign at Checkpoint CharlieAfter my stopover in Berlin, I set off for my next destination - Prague. I joined 'Busabout' which was my salvation after the collapse of the last company. This journey was via Dresden and Terezin. Terezin is the site of a Nazi Concentration Camp and we stopped off for a tour round. The other excitement in the day was crossing the German/Czech border but we got through the border crossing unscathed.
