Mana Island - stayed at Matais hostel. There are 3 backpacker hostels located together at the edge of the Mana Island Fijian village. It is the poorer cousin of Castaway Island, Beachcomber Island & Treasure Island etc, but a good place to see Spear Fishing and go Sea Fishing if you can get chatty with locals. Excellent for snorkelling.


Ovalau Island. Main town is the old capital Levuka. Try Epi's tour to Lovoni. Eat at the Whales Tale Restaurant and try the Ovalau Club. Also try a Lovo lunch - much like a NZ hangi.

Taveuni Island. Definitely recommended. Go to the Waitavala Natural Waterslide, near Lovonivonu, I think. At some point, stay in Susie's Plantation Resort. Note - the bus is once a day and to get any food is a 15-25 min walk though the dining room is open for evening meals. Good place to go diving from. We went to a superb Fijian party here. Lisi's campground is near the airport. Try a 'Bouma Waterfalls' trip if you have the time & money! Don't forget to visit the 180th degree of longitude - the old international dateline in Waiyevo.
