My
Top Spots Of
Australia

The
West Coast: Scenic, yet inhospitable; a reef offering a huge
array of mammals, marine & land reptiles and birdlife;
hot outback terrain; iron ore & natural gas reserves; spectacular
gorges; the round rock towers of the Bungle Bungles; little-travelled
and remote - the West Coast by far has to be my top spot.
In particular, the amazing coral & sealife of the relatively
untouched Ningaloo Reef; the awesome gorges of Karijini National
Park with its daring gorge walks; the dolphins of Monkey Mia
and the mysterious Pinnacles. Further south are the farmlands,
Karri forests and wineries of South-West WA.
-
Northern
Territory: The "Big 3 of NT" - the famous Red Centre
containing the Uluru-Kata Tjuta and Watarrka National Parks
(otherwise known as Ayers Rock, The Olgas and Kings Canyon);
the World Heritage area of Kakadu - Australia's largest National
Park with both its cultural and natural elements and Nitmiluk
National Park/Katherine Gorge(s) with its Aboriginal paintings,
Freshies and rugged terrain. In addition, the little-known
Douglas Hot Springs and Litchfield National Park are also
worth a visit.
-
East
Coast: The Great Barrier Reef can't go without a mention. Neither
can the Whitsunday Islands or the world's largest sand island,
Fraser Island. Additionally, Cape Tribulation and Magnetic Island
are also interesting & relaxing places to visit.
