Golden Gate BridgeDay 2: San Francisco / Santa Cruz - I joined the Suntrek 'Gold Rush' trip - a camping trip of several hundred miles spanning California, Utah, Nevada and Arizona! There were 13 of us on the trip - unusually all girls and unusually no Aussies or Kiwis in sight! The entire group was from Europe with 8 of the girls being either German or German Swiss, 3 being Danish (unusual to meet Danish), 1 being Hungarian (again, unusual to meet Hungarians) and myself. Even the driver/guide Yves was French!

Camping in Santa Cruz The trip started with a sightseeing trip around various districts of the city including Chinatown, Italiantown, Twin Hill, Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf - where we ended up stopping for lunch and watching the World Cup Final in an Irish Pub (as you do ;-)). Overlooking Alcatraz

After a brief stop at the Golden Gate Bridge we headed off to Santa Cruz. Unfortunately the GGB was shrouded in mist so I was lucky to have seen it the day before. The weather was weird too - it was sunny one minute then misty and cold another - apparently the norm!
