Competitions and Bridgnorth YFC
Bridgnorth YFC has recently begun to take part in competitions including Summertime
Show (Shropshire Federation Show), West
Midlands Agricultural Show and Club of the Year.
One of the main competitions in the West
Mid Show is the Float (Main Ring Event - use of a towed trailer
to depict a theme e.g. films). In 2002 Bridgnorth participated for the
first time in many years, coming 2nd place. In 2003, we were 3rd out of
12 competing clubs. Following that success the next year, Bridgnorth was
placed 3rd. In only the second year running of participation in Club of
the Year, Bridgnorth came 2nd at County level.
The Club's Annual Ploughing Match usually offers 4 classes: Open Reversible,
Mounted Vintage, Trailed Vintage and Ladies Class. In addition, Root &
Cereals (potatoes, hay, silage, wheat, barley etc.) and Home Section (cookery,
flower arranging, funny photo + captions etc.) competitions are available
for non-ploughers.
